The Eucharist is at the Heart of Divine Revelation

A proper interpretation of the word of God sees the Eucharist at the very center of man’s creation and redemption:

⦁ It is the new fruit of the tree of life (Gn 2:9) that was rejected by Adam and reoffered by the new Adam (Christ) on the cross.

⦁ It is the new Passover meal that God through Moses commanded His people to eat (Ex 12:8); and which at the Last Supper God through the new Moses (Jesus) commands His people to perpetually eat (Lk 22:19).

⦁ It is the new bread that came down from Heaven that nourished the Israelites on their journey to the promised land. At each Mass Jesus becomes the new bread that comes down from Heaven to every altar, to nourish His people on route to the new promised land, Heaven.

Not only is the Eucharist heavenly food to spiritually sustain those on their journey through this life, but as St. Ignatius of Antioch said in the first century, it is also “the medicine of immortality.” It is God Himself.
