Many theists reject the notion of chance, as atheists reject purpose. Both would agree that with an all powerful Creator God governing the world, there would be no random chance; and with a godless universe with no beginning, there would be no purpose. Many are satisfied with this polemic of being skeptical about either science or faith.
.
But a deeper look enables us to accept as paradox that both chance and purpose are simultaneously true. Analogously, when an author allows his novel to unfold according to random occurrences and free choices within the story, the characters exist in a completely different realm than the author. Yet, both realms of being are real.
.
Likewise, the spatial-temporal realm is infinitely dissimilar and distant from God’s infinite-eternal realm. Yet, we can conceptualize that an unchanging all good Creator God works through the chance encounters and free choices of the created realm of beings to accomplish His purpose and perfect will. This includes ultimately bringing order out of chaos, good out of evil, and perfect justice out of injustice.
