Here’s where the secular mind gets it wrong.

One could reasonably argue that male animal nature includes the propensity to procreate as much, and with as many females, as possible. But human beings are a composite of person and animal, with the former being ordered to govern the latter via reason. Although our lower nature has instinctual drives common with the other animals to propagate the species and continue its survival, our higher personal dimension reflects the tri-personal Trinity; and His eternal relations are exclusive, permanent, and fruitful – the essential properties of marriage.

Hence, despite the involuntary drives of the lower nature, which have been de-linked from our higher nature due to original sin, monogamy is natural to man; and obligatory in the moral order. To re-integrate human nature (the rational/personal with the instinctual/animal) and live according to the truth of our being, grace is necessary.
