Abortion Kills a Life-cycle

One thing that makes us human and separates us from all the other animals is our intellectual ability to transcend the here and now, i.e. time and space. Although we don’t immediately experience it with our senses, we know there are other places in the world that we’re not presently occupying, and that there’s a past and a future with everything. It’s human to be able to recognize this. Other animals don’t.

Regarding time, reason enables us to distinguish between being and potential. For example, a child is a human being currently in his child phase. A senior is a human being currently in his senior phase. Yet, the senior is a child grown up and the child is a senior not yet actualized. Both persons are their whole lifecycles.

Therefore, people aren’t simply what they experience in the moment. We are lifecycles currently living at different points within them. With time, potentiality turns into actuality.

This is why it’s literally inhuman to be for abortion. When you kill a person in his embryonic or fetal stage of life, you kill his entire lifecycle – his childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and everything he would have contributed to the world. There’s nothing more unjust and consequential than to wipe away a person’s entire lifecycle.

If this tidbit of thought has opened your mind a little to ponder more, be thankful. It’s much better to embrace the truth now and fight for justice than to continue to collaborate with our culture of death.
