Never Make Politics Your Religion

Just a friendly reminder of the imperfection of political parties.

While the Democratic Party has morphed into a movement of death-loving socialism, it can be argued that the Republican Party has been taken over by what may be called ‘the post-Christian right’. This ideology claims ethical monotheism as its foundation but disregards the principles that back it up.

I’m not saying there’s an equivalence between the parties. Far from it. Democrats have raised the bar on evil and irrationality higher than it’s ever been in America. However, can we be comfortable with a conservative party surrendering on the critical issues of life and family that define who and what we are as human beings?

Today’s GOP, in general:

  • is comfortable with individual states allowing child-killing
  • accepts the oxymoron “same-sex marriage”
  • deems unnatural lifestyles ‘no one’s business’, rather than a deviation from natural law that cannot be normalized
  • silently accepts abortion pills (which kill more innocents than surgical abortion), and
  • actively promotes in-vitro fertilization (which kills more babies than abortion).

It seems the only social issue destroying the family and society that the GOP as a party opposes today is gender ideology, and only when it affects minors.

Participating in the culture of death on a smaller scale than the other party doesn’t give the electorate a clear alternative.

I’m not against voting for the lesser evil in a fallen world. I do it all the time. But I am against surrendering principles of justice and truth to the spirit of the age by accepting in principle, or by actively supporting, moral evil and injustice.

Ultimately, political conservatives must never make the Republican Party a religion, as ‘progressives’ have already done with the Democratic Party. For it is religion that shapes our core, and right religion that gives humanity its true identity and meaning.
